Need a Subject Researched, Verified, or Documented?

Custom research, analysis, and investigation services: information research, source verification, cross-checking, documentation, and production of structured reports and dossiers.

Some questions require more than a quick search. They require finding the available information, tracing it back to its sources, comparing different accounts, verifying claims, and sometimes reconstructing a subject from scattered pieces of information.

Palks Studio conducts custom research and investigations based on a question, a subject, or a set of documents you want to understand, verify, or explore further.

The work may focus on technical, digital, economic, professional, or documentary topics, using the same approach: distinguishing what can be established, what remains uncertain, and what the available sources actually support.

From Research to the Final Report

Depending on the need, the engagement can range from targeted research to a longer investigation involving source verification, information cross-checking, and the production of a summary, report, or documented dossier.

Research, Verify & Document

The Research

  • Information Research Identification of available information, documents, and sources
  • Documentary Research Reports, publications, archives, technical documentation, and public sources
  • Subject Exploration Identification of relevant actors, events, technologies, and areas requiring further investigation

The Analysis

  • Source Verification Origin, consistency, and reliability of the information being used
  • Cross-Checking Comparison of information obtained from different sources
  • Limitations & Uncertainty Distinguishing established facts, hypotheses, contradictions, and elements that cannot be confirmed

An Investigation Built Around Your Question

The engagement begins by defining a question and a clear scope. You can provide information you already have, existing documents, identified leads, or simply the subject you would like examined.

Research is then conducted within the agreed scope. Relevant information is collected, sources are examined, important claims are cross-checked, and potential contradictions are identified.

An investigation may also evolve as the research progresses. A source may reveal a new lead, uncover an additional document, or require a verification that could not have been identified at the beginning of the engagement.

When this happens, new leads are identified and their exploration may be incorporated into the scope when they remain relevant to the original question.

The objective is not to produce a conclusion at any cost, but to report what the available evidence actually allows us to establish, together with the relevant sources, limitations, and areas of uncertainty.

This approach can be seen in practice in a published investigation into electronic invoicing, which documents its sources and distinguishes established facts, technical capabilities, hypotheses, and elements that remain unproven.

The Process

  • Defining the Subject Initial question, objectives, available documents, and research scope
  • Research & Collection Identification and collection of sources, documents, and information relevant to the investigation
  • Analysis & Cross-Checking Verification of information, comparison of sources, and exploration of relevant leads

The Result

  • Established Findings Information that can be verified is clearly distinguished from the rest
  • Identified Limitations Contradictions, missing information, and elements that remain impossible to establish
  • Documented Report A structured synthesis supported by the sources and evidence needed to understand the findings

Engagement Formats

Research and investigation services are offered at a fixed price, defined before the engagement begins according to the subject, scope, desired depth of research, and expected deliverable.

An engagement may take the form of targeted research into a specific question, an investigation conducted over a defined period, or the production of a more comprehensive dossier requiring several phases of research and analysis.

For open-ended subjects or investigations that may evolve as new information emerges, a fixed fee can be established for a defined period. At the end of that period, the findings are delivered and any continuation of the research is handled under a new scope.

Pricing is therefore established after an initial discussion of the subject, allowing the research objectives, duration or scope of the engagement, and expected deliverable to be clearly defined in advance.
